Not only are volcanoes a prominent geological feature here in Hawai‘i, but also the sacred home of the volcano goddess Pele. Her journey from Kahiki (Tahiti) is documented in traditional oli (chants) and mele (songs). Pele’s power to destroy and beauty to create, makes her both admired and revered. With this nane ʻāpana (puzzle), we hope to build your keiki’s interest in lua pele (volcano) and grow a new appreciation for this geological phenomenon.

This puzzle was intentionally left with its natural wood grain giving the option to customize with color. Beneath each piece is the name of the part in Hawaiian.
